OS-X Box

Found this pretty cool video linked on reddit.com of a guy who’s made a lovely OS X booting pc system in an old school developers Xbox case.
Really nice work on both the PC and the filming.

Modern Warfare 2 – Potential Fail?

It’s pretty obvious that the console version of this game will be a big hit, and it’s also becoming increasingly obvious that Activision already realise this by somewhat appearing to boycott the PC version.

A number of petitions have surfaced (including one 180, 000-strong against infinity wards lack of dedicated server support in the game) against some pretty odd choices made by the developers concerning multiplayer. The main issue in my opinion is the fact the game doesn’t use dedicated servers like we see on the more popular pc games such as Team Fortress 2, Counter Strike, and Call of Duty 4.

Instead people are now getting the impression that the game will be using a system not dissimilar to how Xbox Live handles multiplayer and PC gamers will not be able to choose the best servers on location and ping.

I guess only time will tell if this issue will be rectified or whether it’s actually a good idea anyway, perhaps to reduce hacks etc? who knows.

Mmmm plastic food.

Just saw a video on BBC news about plastic food, it’s used instead of or along side a standard menu in a restaurant so the customer can see exactly what they’re ordering. What an ace idea i’d love to be able to see how big my steak will be or my massive pie, England needs to adopt this idea.

I’ve recently found a cool app that allows you to download DRM free television programmes from BBC’s iPlayer website.

The app is created by a clever programmer/developer chap who’s programme makes the iPlayer website think that it’s being visited by an iPhone or ipod touch and therefore serve up a DRM free .mov version of its programmes. The beauty of it is the .mov files will play straight on your PC (and also ipod touch or iphone) with no 7 day limit.

Check it out here.

GTA IV for PC

This video pretty much sums up grand theft auto iv for the pc.

After loaning this game from a friend I soon realised why he was eager to get rid of it.

“Fuck Rockstar.”
